  We found a home that we loved here and that happened to be the most expensive thing on the lot at $170k. Well, they have prices listed on the refrigerator that estimate your monthly payment based on your credit score. I asked point blank if those were accurate and was assured that they were. Based on that we realized we could afford more than what we originally wanted to spend. Our credit score ended up being even higher than we originally though too. I had a few minor changes I wanted in the house and also wanted to find out how much for different floors. The salesman came back and quoted us $10k for laminate floors which is ridiculous. So we agreed that we would find our own floors and they would install. We put in our loan application and told the salesman we had 2 acres of land to use but could maybe get 3 acres if we needed it. He was told to only submit 2 acres. That was made very clear. A week later we get our loan approval back and this guy submitted the loan for $10k over what we agreed on AND used 3 acres of land without our permission! The payments came out to $800 more per month than what we were told they would be. Of course he had excuse after excuse, but they immediately lost our business with that move. Even without the extra $10k added on, there is no way those fridge prices are accurate. Also this prompted us to look into SE Energy homes which is the manufacturer for the home we were interested in. They have horrible reviews! Do not buy from Timberline. They are con-artists and shady. We are now working with Clayton homes and they have been honest and helpful every step so far.
